Report | Over 18 months, 29 vulnerable women from Norwich, 7 volunteers and 6 staff investigated collections at the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts and made art in response, leading and sharing learning over 18 months.
36 sessions included getting to know the Sainsbury Centre, visits to exhibitions, open workshops at Eaton Park Community Centre and the Norman Centre, a 2-day event at St Margaret’s Church of Art, shared lunches and celebrations, keeping sketchbooks, drawing, painting, pottery, whooshing and an appearance at the Spiegel Tent, Norfolk and Norwich Festival. Of the whole group, attendance was: 1 – 9 sessions, 16 women. 10 – 19 sessions, 13 women. 20- 29 sessions, 9 women. 30 or more sessions, 4 women. Evaluation measures were the Warwick Edinburgh Mental Wellbeing Scale, Journey Star and action research addressing the question: What is the role of conversation in the gallery? The report is being written. We plan to meet 6 times a year to visit exhibitions together, 5 in Norfolk and 1 jaunt. Self funded. |
